I started having all kinds of difficulty booting. Strange errors. Finally, I re-installed XP using the upgrade method. At start-up, Windows Installer keeps poping up. Then it would ask me to insert my DAO disk. This would go on for 10 to 15 minutes. I found this thread, ran the two lines of code, and Viola! Everything works great.

Posted March 20, I just upgraded to EMC 8 and started receiving the error message about the dao. The unregister and reregister of the DLL solved the problem. I'm running a Dell with an All-in-Wonder Radeon pro card.

I'm grateful for any help. Edited May 22, by debbistage. Other users have resolved this issue by updating their chipset drivers from the Device Manager. Choose to connect to the internet or Windows Update to update the driver and continue through the update.
I have the same problem with Windows 7. Tried to install legacy drivers from ATI, the driver is for Vista because 7 is not supported.
